Regions

Ecuador has a strategic location within the South American continent; the equator or Zero Latitude crosses it. These characteristics define the variety of climates that exist in four natural regions that have 33 protected areas including two islands, two are marine and 29 are terrestrial. Each region has its own particularity; altitude regulates its natural environment and its own flora and fauna.
